THE GREEN HALLOWEEN FESTIVAL
OCTOBER 24 & 25, 2008

2008 Green Halloween Pony Rides

Highlands Council and Port Blakely Project Development produced the biggest Green Halloween Festival in Issaquah Highland’s history! Embracing the Green Halloween movement and the values of living green in Issaquah Highlands the event focused on community outreach, healthy living, education, and seasonal fun!

1500 lbs of Terror Town
Back this year, The Terror Town Haunted House put the fright back in Halloween night for residents and Issaquah locals! Admission required donations of non-perishable food items to Northwest Harvest Food Bank. Terror Town collected 1,500lbs of food in just two days! Terror Town was produced by the Project Development Team.

Carve, Embellish, Paint and SUPPORT
Highlands Council supported a fundraiser for Eastside Baby Corner. Residents decorated pumpkins and 100% of the entry fees went to EBC! Festival guests then voted for their favorite pumpkin and 100% of the ballot purchases also went to EBC! EBC supports local families in need of basic necessities for their children. Age appropriate prizes were awarded to the winning pumpkin in each of four age groups

2008 Green Halloween Issy Witch

Healthy Living & Seasonal Fun The weather was great and most local residents walked or biked to the event; a perfect example of Urban Village living! The entire family was encouraged to come in costume! The festival kicked-off with a Kids and Pet Parade! Then everyone enjoyed pony rides, horse-drawn wagon rides, a hay maze, carnival games, a giant inflatable bounce house and slide, and so much more!

Local businesses and non -profit organizations hosted booths at the festival! Green Halloween.org booth answered questions about how to put more-GREEN into a families Halloween celebration. Guests also enjoyed fresh-pressed apple cider and free apples provided by the Madden family. Amazing Grass offered free samples of healthy food products for the entire family. Educational, hands-on vendors included Discovery Toys, KidsQuest Children’s Museum, Issaquah Bookends, and Mad Science demonstrations with take-home Goblin Goop!

The festival was located at Blakely Hall, the Village Green, and the adjacent Starpoint retail area. It was a beautiful fall day and attendance was estimated at close to 2,000!
