LADIES, GET READY
FOR SOME CURVES!

  • Curves offers a safe and comfortable place for women to exercise.
  • Allows women to support one another in a healthy environment, feel confident and socialize together.
  • Curves enables women to have a complete workout in 30 minutes. Each facility is equipped with hydraulic resistance machines. These machines give resistance in the pushing and pulling motion, which is how a full workout can be done in 30 minutes. Within the 30 minutes, you also receive a cardio workout.

Owned and operated by three women Norma, Nora, and Raechelle, Curves in Issaquah Highlands High Streets Retail Village is a workout facility specifically designed for women to have a safe and comfortable place to exercise. The idea behind Curves is to allow women to support one another in a healthy environment, feel confident and socialize together.

Norma lived in San Diego, at the time the idea hit her to open a Curves of her own. When she tried to open the franchise in San Diego space was limited and she had to look elsewhere. She called her daughter, Raechelle, here in Washington and sprang the idea of opening a Curves in the Issaquah/Sammamish area. Raechelle joined the nearest Curves, at that time in Lynnwood, and was sold on the idea.

Norma then called her sister, Nora, and the three ladies joined forces to make Curves a multi-location business. The next step was finding additional locations. Raechelle lived in Issaquah. There were no Curves in close proximity, therefore the ladies decided the Eastside would be their target location. They opened their first Curves on Mercer Island in May 2002. It was a success, and they soon decided to open another location. In August 2002, Curves opened in Issaquah Commons (next to Foot Zone) in Issaquah.

The ladies are very successful in their business, most likely, because they believe so strongly in the fundamentals and foundation for Curves. “Women have such busy lives and we want to help them have somewhere to go to relax and have fun, comfortably and confidently,” says Raechelle. “I truly believe this was the plan for me. It’s hard work, but I couldn’t possibly imagine my life without having done this.”

Curves loves being a part of the Issaquah Highlands community. “It’s such a great community, I love that it has a touch of the city feel, yet still feels like a village,” says Raechelle. Curves enable women to have a complete workout in 30 minutes. Each facility is equipped with hydraulic resistance machines. These machines give resistance in the pushing and pulling motion, which is how a full workout can be done in 30 minutes. Within the 30 minutes, you also receive a cardio workout.
