Idea Home Wins Gold Nugget Award

San Francisco --

Port Blakely Communities' demonstration project, the Puget Sound Energy Built Green™ Idea Home at Issaquah Highlands, was awarded a Gold Nugget Grand Award for the Sustainable/Green Residential Project of the Year. The Gold Nuggets are awarded by the PCBC, one of the nation's leading building industry trade organizations, at their annual conference which drew over 25,000 homebuilders, developers, architects, product manufacturers, and consultants to San Francisco's Moscone Center.

Sharing in the award are home builder Bennett Homes, architect Mithun, the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties and title sponsor Puget Sound Energy. "The Idea Home was a pivotal success in gaining awareness for a practical approach to Built Green™ in the Puget Sound region," noted Judd Kirk, president of Port Blakely. "A steering committee team of industry leaders worked on this project for well over a year to make it a realistic demonstration of techniques to create a healthier home, a home that costs less to operate, uses materials and techniques that are friendly to the environment and results in a home with lasting value.

Over 8,000 visitors took docent-guided tours of the Idea Home over ten weekends. The Idea Home was also used during the week for industry tours and training. This adds up to very strong exposure for Built Green™ and the Living Green™ approach to sustainable living and development practiced at Issaquah Highlands." The Puget Sound Energy Built Green Idea Home is featured on-line at www.issaquahhighlands.com, and every day over 20 model homes are open at Issaquah Highlands, a Built Green™ community, featuring a wide variety of approaches to Living Green™.

Port Blakely Communities would like to recognize the Steering Committee and Sponsors who participated with us in creating this "Best in the West" presentation of sustainable residential development.
