G. “Green Roof” Garden

This “green roof” is one of the most innovative and enjoyable of all Built Green™ features. Opening off the master bedroom, this delightful private space provides additional garden space, reduces and buffers rainwater runoff, and may reduce thermal gain in the summer. A rain barrel on the roof provides drip irrigation for the planters. Roof water in excess of that needed by the roof garden is collected in rain barrels at the ground level. Beautiful and durable Architectural Slab pavers are suspended over a waterproof membrane on a system of PVC piers (often containing recycled plastic).
