ISSAQUAH, Wash. – Puget Sound Energy (PSE) and The City of Issaquah are making strides in their commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. The two have partnered to increase participation in PSE’s Green Power program, which matches your electricity use with renewable energy made from wind and solar.
This initiative aims to reduce the electricity-related carbon emissions in the Issaquah community, making it cleaner and more sustainable.
The goal of the citywide Empower Issaquah challenge is to enroll 300 new residents and businesses in the program by April 2025. PSE will provide the City of Issaquah with $15,000 toward a new solar array in the Issaquah community, which the city will match, should we reach our enrollment goal.
“Together, we can make a difference to preserve and protect our natural surroundings and support progress towards the city’s Climate Action Plan targets,” said City of Issaquah Sustainability Manager Stacy Vynne McKinstry.
Joining the challenge has numerous benefits for the community and for the environment. By participating, you’re directly reducing your community’s reliance on non-renewable energy sources. This reduction in fossil fuel dependence is a crucial step toward a sustainable future. Additionally, you’ll decrease your personal greenhouse gas emissions, which contributes to Issaquah’s Climate Action Plan.
Your enrollment also helps create a cleaner, more sustainable environment for future generations.
This project will not only provide renewable energy to the community but also serve as a testament to the collective effort of building a sustainable future in our region. Green Power starts at just $4 per month and signing up is easy. Simply login to your account to enroll. To learn more about the challenge, click here.
