When did you move to Issaquah Highlands? And from where?
I moved to the Issaquah Highlands in the summer of 2009. I previously lived in Maple Valley.
What brought you to Issaquah Highlands? And what do you like best about living in Issaquah Highlands?
I was working in Bellevue and residing in Maple Valley, which meant my daily commute took me through the heart of Issaquah. Each drive home was a revelation, as I was consistently captivated by the town’s charm as well as the breathtaking natural scenery featuring majestic mountains and pristine waters. It was during those moments that I made a silent promise to myself: I would call this place “home” one day. And that day eventually arrived in August 2009.
What I cherish most about living in Issaquah Highlands is the harmonious coexistence of several key elements that make it special. Firstly, the sheer beauty of the area—with its awe-inspiring mountains and scenic waterways—continues to amaze me. Secondly, the sense of community here is remarkably strong, fostering a warm and welcoming atmosphere that feels like home.
One of the aspects that set Issaquah Highlands apart is the thoughtful planning that ensures essential services are easily accessible. From top-notch healthcare facilities and schools to a diverse array of restaurants, everything one might need is close by. This convenience adds a layer of comfort to everyday life.
Issaquah Highlands strikes a perfect balance between the convenience of urban living and the tranquility of suburban life. It’s a place where the stunning natural backdrop, a strong sense of community, and the promise of a bright future converge seamlessly. For me, it’s not just a place to live; it’s the ideal place to call home.
How did you become involved as a volunteer in Issaquah Highlands?
I must confess, it’s only been in recent years that I embarked on my volunteering journey in Issaquah Highlands, but I am truly grateful that I finally got involved. My journey began with my role as the treasurer of our homeowners association (HOA) at the Arboretum at Vista Park in 2020. Subsequently, in 2022, I expanded my involvement by joining the Highland Council Board of Trustees (BOT).
I was absolutely thrilled to join the Highlands Council BOT because it’s a chance to actively shape a community that truly embodies the values we hold dear. Volunteering here is more than just a role; it’s a passionate commitment to fostering unity, celebrating our diversity, and preserving our environment for future generations.
Tell us about your experience as a volunteer in Issaquah Highlands.
My experience as a volunteer in Issaquah Highlands has been a rewarding journey. It’s a place where I’ve discovered the power of community engagement and the satisfaction that comes from actively contributing to its betterment.
One of the most remarkable aspects of volunteering in Issaquah Highlands is the sense of shared responsibility for shaping our community. Here, everyone has the opportunity to play a role in its development, and I’m grateful for the chance to contribute my time and talents.
Through volunteering, I’ve had the privilege of connecting with more of my neighbors, forging meaningful relationships, and fostering a sense of camaraderie within the community.
