Business Buzz: Spice Up Your Life at Flavor of India

Flavor of India, a new restaurant in Grand Ridge Plaza, opens its doors to the community on Saturday, June 10. It will take over the space previously occupied by Big Fish Grill.

The restaurant features an assortment of traditional and fusion dishes, making for a harmonious blend of classic flavors and innovative culinary creations. This isn’t the first venture for restaurateur Abdul Malik, who has owned several different restaurants over the years.

“I’m glad to be a part of this wonderful, beautiful community,” he said.

The City of Issaquah celebrated the new restaurant with a ribbon cutting hosted by its economic development team on Tuesday, June 6. Mayor Mary Lou Pauly cut the ribbon alongside Malik.

“I am a personal fan of Indian cuisine and have made my first reservation to be here [next week],” she said. “It is so important to us that when people choose where they want to have their businesses or their restaurants or their families, they choose Issaquah.”

Jen Davis Hayes, economic development manager for the city, said she had been talking to Malik about opening a restaurant in Issaquah for a few years now. He’s been tenacious about wanting to be here, she added.

“While we’re saddened that this restaurant [Big Fish] left, we’re so happy that he was able to get this spot and open up so quickly,” Jen said.
