When did you move to Issaquah Highlands? And from where?
In June of 2020, I sold my home in West Seattle and purchased a condo in Starpoint to be closer to my family and to live in a community.
Why did you choose to live in Issaquah Highlands?
I’ve been visiting the Issaquah Highlands since 2004, when my sister and her husband bought a townhome near Kirk Park. Over the past 20 years, I’ve spent time in the neighborhood parks, attended community events, and visited many of the shops and restaurants throughout Issaquah Highlands. As soon as I moved here, I felt like I belonged.
Could you tell us about your family?
I’m the oldest of five siblings, and we’re all very close. I have six nephews and two nieces, and I love spending time with them—whether here in Issaquah Highlands, in Cashmere, WA, or in Bozeman, MT.
How did you become involved as a volunteer in Issaquah Highlands?
After living here for nearly a year, I saw the announcement for the IHCA Board of Directors election and realized that running for a board position would be a meaningful way to give back to the community. I love the pride that residents have in this neighborhood, and I believe I can help represent those who don’t have the time to be fully involved but still care deeply about keeping Issaquah Highlands a great place to live.
Tell us about your experience with the IHCA Board of Directors.
I’ve served on the IHCA Board since 2021 and currently hold the role of president. I’ve really enjoyed gaining a deeper understanding of how a large-scale HOA operates and having the opportunity to help make a meaningful difference in the quality of life for Issaquah Highlands residents. The IHCA staff are exceptional and deeply dedicated to this community, and we have a fantastic group of volunteers on the board. I’m excited about what we can accomplish together in the year ahead.
What advice do you have for others interested in volunteering in Issaquah Highlands?
My advice for anyone interested in volunteering in Issaquah Highlands is to jump in and get involved! There are many ways to contribute, and you’ll find that your time makes a real difference. Volunteering is also a great way to meet neighbors, learn more about how the community operates and have a direct impact on making the community an even better place to live. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, share your ideas and find the role that best fits your interests and skills.
Anything you’d like to add?
I’d just like to add that being part of this community has been incredibly rewarding. Issaquah Highlands is a special place because of the people who live here and the care they put into making it a welcoming, vibrant neighborhood. I’m grateful for the opportunity to give back and to work alongside so many dedicated residents and staff.
