A Solo Exhibition of Paintings by Carol Ross

You are invited to join artist Carol Ross for an artist’s reception at Blakely Hall on Sept. 6th, 6-8pm. The reception is free and open to the public. Light fare will be served.

At the reception, Carol will give a little talk about her process and inspiration and particularly why she fell in love with abstract painting. As an introduction, Carol shares,

“It is a wonderful coincidence that I have an opportunity to follow the landscape work that is currently showing at Blakely hall since my first love was landscape. I have a landscape painting in the show, called “Wash” …and while it is a painting of a ravine…aspects are rather abstract. So I have come to feel that my natural pathway was to move toward Abstract Painting. But to not leave landscape painting behind altogether. In a given month I will be inspired by a road or a shoreline and the next month will move headlong into an abstract painting. Moving back and forth between the two forms keeps me balanced…sometimes I am drawn to the forms and particularly the structure that painting a landscape provides and then I take off into an intuitive process…finding balance and movement and composition without any limits and that is what Abstract Painting gives me. Easy to fall in love with that!”

Carol’s work will be on display September 28th.
