It’s all fun and games at Blakely Hall as a popular group makes a comeback in the community!
Game Night kicked off in September after a two-year pause brought on by the pandemic. The group is organized by new leaders Pooja Sharma and Lakshmi Priya Sekar, who met on Facebook after both expressing interest in bringing back a special night dedicated to playing board games.
The first meetup featured a large game of Apples to Apples, followed by smaller groups exploring other options such as Bananagrams, giant Connect 4, Splendor and Phase 10. Join us for Game Night on the third Thursday of each month from 6:30-9 p.m. (Our next meeting is Oct. 20.)
Game Night is an attempt to unite board game enthusiasts in Issaquah Highlands, according to Lakshmi Priya. She says very few areas in the region offer meetups or events dedicated to board games.
“Folks can expect to play any type of game, and the event is open to all ages,” she said.
Lakshmi Priya encourages participants to bring their favorite games to share with the group. She recently acquired two new games to her own collection: “Dune Imperium” and “Root.” “Spirit Island” is another one of her favorites.
““I’m passionate about playing board games,” she said. “The experience of getting a new game, learning the rules, setting up the board, feeling the pieces in hand, interacting with people and thinking through the game to play brings joy.”
She says Game Night is a great opportunity to meet new people in Issaquah Highlands and build friendships with people who share similar interests.
“Though there are a lot of solo board games, sharing your hobby with other like-minded folks elevates the experience,” Lakshmi Priya said.
Game Night is open to all and beginners are welcome! No previous knowledge is required to participate in any games.
Lakshmi Priya lives in the Westridge North neighborhood, and Pooja lives in Crofton Springs.
