Highlands Bistro: A New Dining Experience in Issaquah Highlands

By February 6, 2025Business, General

Highlands Bistro officially opened its doors in December 2024, offering a unique fusion of flavors and an inviting atmosphere. It occupies the space formerly home to Flavor of India in Grand Ridge Plaza, although ownership is staying the same!

At the center of Highlands Bistro is Chef Abdul Malik, who has over 40 years of experience as a restaurateur and 10 restaurants under his belt.

“I have always had a passion for cooking. Over the years, I’ve worked as an Italian cook, an American cook, and of course, I have learned and honed my craft in many kitchens,” he said. “These experiences have shaped my approach to food and my desire to share flavors that reflect both my heritage and my professional journey also back in the ’90s, while working as a chef at Misty’s Red Lion Bellevue.”

While Highlands Bistro marks a significant shift in culinary direction, it continues Malik’s legacy of delivering exceptional dining experiences. His new menu showcases American breakfast, lunch and dinner infused with touches of his Indian culinary heritage.

“I felt there was a real need for a breakfast place here in the Issaquah Highlands, as the area lacked options for morning dining. I wanted to take the initiative to serve my community, offering a variety of dishes that would bring people together and make them happy,” Malik said.

With no other American breakfast restaurants in the Issaquah Highlands, Malik believes Highlands Bistro fills a critical need. The restaurant promises a delicious beginning to the day, as the breakfast menu contains items such as pancakes and waffles, with plans to add a fresh fruit bar in the near future. The lunch and dinner menus feature an assortment of hamburgers, sandwiches, pasta, soups, salads and more.

For Indian food lovers, old favorites like Butter Chicken still grace the menu, striking a perfect balance of old and new for loyal customers.

Malik hopes the restaurant will become a go-to spot for sports fans and social gatherings. With all sports channels available, fans can support their favorite teams any day of the week. Additionally, Highlands Bistro offers a full-day Happy Hour every Sunday with $5 beer!

With Malik’s expertise and the restaurant’s well-rounded menu, Highlands Bistro is poised to become the favorite of locals and visitors alike. From hearty breakfasts to quick lunches and even sophisticated dinners, Highlands Bistro can accommodate any meal and anyone. Visit soon to see why this new restaurant is already making waves in the community!
