Issaquah Highlands Community Association (IHCA) is seeing a growing trend of residents draping extension cords over walkways from their homes to the street to charge their electric vehicles. Please be aware that residents are not permitted by either the City of Issaquah or IHCA to extend power cords for electric vehicles across public easements or common areas in Issaquah Highlands, even on a temporary basis.
Owners will be subject to non-compliance notices, City of Issaquah code violation notices, and possible immediate fines and removal of cords. Additionally, residents could be liable for any accidents caused by the improper placement of cords in these areas.
If you see this non-compliance occurring, please report it to IHCA and the City of Issaquah.
Please note that making any changes to the exterior of your home, such as installing a proper EV charging station, requires approval from the IHCA in advance.
Happy gas savings!
