Based on your answers, they will create a targeted speaker series of parenting experts to help shine light on and share resources on the leading topics. ISD Open Enrollment for New to ISD Families
Open registration for new students in grades 1-5 is currently underway. Students new to the Issaquah School District for the 2023-2024 school year may complete student registration packets available online here. Families must provide proof of address in the school’s attendance area to enroll for the upcoming school year. The following documents are required for enrollment: proof of birth date (birth certificate or passport), parent photo identification, immunization records, and residency verification (a copy of your purchase papers or lease agreement and a utility bill no more than 30 days old). Early enrollment is very important as ISD plans staffing and allocates resources for the new school year.
Community Resources for Families and Students with Developmental Disabilities
Join Rachel Nemhauser and Jae Kim from The Arc of King County for an exploration of services and resources available in King County and Washington state for students with developmental disabilities and their families. This informative and informal conversation is a great opportunity to find out what help is available and get your questions answered regarding resources through ARC, local community resources and DDA (waivers, respite care, therapies, behavior support, etc.). ISD Curriculum Updates and Viewing Dates
ISD Instructional Materials Committee (IMC) recommended an assortment of curriculum materials to the Issaquah School District School Board for approval at the May 11 meeting. The following materials will considered: High School Health Curriculum, Senior Sexual Health (Strand 2) Curriculum, and The Social Institute’s Digital Citizenship curriculum for grades 6, 7 and 8. Materials will be on public display at the ISD Administration Building Lobby (5150 220th Ave SE, Issaquah, WA). The display will be available during normal business hours (7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) until May 5. Issaquah Youth Advisory Board
The City of Issaquah’s Youth Advisory Board (IYAB) is now accepting applications for the 2023-2024 school year. Applications and two references are due by May 12. Selected applicants will be contacted for virtual interviews and notified by mid-June. Submit your application to IYAB@issaquahwa.gov. All students currently in grades 5-11 are welcome to apply. The IYAB is made up of representatives from each Issaquah middle and high school. Representatives of the homeschool population, and youth who live within the Issaquah School District and attend other schools, are welcome to apply. IYAB terms last the length of the school year.
ISD Sixth Grade Advanced Math Assessments
Pathway D provides an acceleration option for students who are ready to skip sixth grade, seventh grade and most of eighth grade math, allowing them to begin middle school in Common Core 8/Algebra 1. Students must demonstrate mastery of seventh and eighth grade math skills on a district-administered assessment. Learn more about mathematics Path D here. Tests will be offered to interested students on the following dates: May 23, (5-7 p.m.), May 24 (2:30-4:30 p.m.) and May 25 (5-7 p.m.). Sign-ups are available through Wednesday, May 17. ISD 2023-24 Preschool Information
Issaquah School District, in partnership with Washington State Department of Early Learning, offers an Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP) preschool program for eligible children living within the ISD boundaries. The ECEAP program is located at the Holly Street Early Learning Center (school day and morning OR afternoon session) and Briarwood Elementary School (school day session). Classroom placement is determined by age and home address. Eligible children must be age 3 or 4 by Aug. 31. For more information, please visit the ISD Preschool ECEAP webpage.
Endeavour Art Walk
Budding artists abound! Join the Endeavour PTSA for an evening celebrating talented artists on May 31! The annual spring Art Walk is a colorful event for families to enjoy. The walls and hallways at Endeavour Elementary will be dedicated to beautiful, artistic displays representing every classroom. Afterward, continue the creativity with local artists and partake in other hands-on activities for the entire family to enjoy.
Clark Sharks Collect 450 Pounds of Food!
Congratulations for raising over 450 pounds of food and donations for the Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank. In total, the students collected 20 full crates, equaling over 450 pounds of food such as cereal, canned tuna and chicken, Rice A Roni, Pasta Roni and other assortments of pasta, macaroni and cheese and canned goods.
ISD Community Update Video: Enrollment, Budget, Revenue Outlook
Superintendent Heather Tow-Yick and Chief of Finance and Operations Martin Turney recently released a YouTube video discussing many aspects of next year’s ISD school budget, while talking with community members about the district’s enrollment and the revenue outlook over the next few years. Affordable Connectivity Internet Service Program
The Affordable Connectivity Program is an FCC program that helps connect families and households struggling to afford internet service. The benefit provides up to $30/month discount for internet service, up to $75/month discount for households on qualifying Tribal lands, and a one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, desktop computer or tablet purchased through a participating provider. ISD Sports Survey
The Issaquah School District Athletics department is seeking student feedback on our sports offerings. As we continue to evaluate our programming, we believe it is important to consider student interests.
