Superintendent Shares Back-to-School Video Update

This week marks the start of the 2024-25 school year for students and families. Colleagues around the district have been making preparations for a seamless start to the school year from learning together about new curricula and sharing best practices for teaching and learning, to ensuring every school facility has the necessary repairs, upgrades and cleaning for students and staff. New Login Method on Canvas for Students, Staff

Teachers and students will use an updated login link to access Canvas. With this link, if you are already logged into MS365, you will be logged into Canvas and taken to your dashboard. If you are not logged into MS365, then you will be prompted to do so. Please note the login process for parents has NOT changed. Additional information about logging in, as either a student or a parent, is available on the website. Elementary student access to Clever will resume with the start of school.

ISD Online Learning Accepting Applications for Fall 2024

Middle and high school students are eligible to take online learning courses in art, electives, English, math, physical education, science, social studies and world language. Courses can be taken within a student’s schedule or in addition to a student’s schedule. For more information on program course lists and requirements, please visit the ISD Online Learning website. Applications will be accepted through Sept. 13.

The Highly Capable Program Referral Window is Open Sept. 1-15

Referrals of students to determine possible eligibility for the Highly Capable Program will be accepted online beginning Sept. 1-15. Students may be referred by parents or other individuals such as teachers, other staff or a member of the community. Students in first and third grade through 12th grade can be referred.

Instructional Materials Committee Seeking Volunteers

The ISD is seeking community members to volunteer to serve on the Instructional Materials Committee (IMC). Members are typically asked to make a 2-year commitment to serve on the committee. Community members are appointed by the superintendent. The committee meets monthly at the ISD Administration Building, typically on the third Thursday of the month from 4-6 p.m. The first IMC meeting of the 2024-25 school year is scheduled for Sept. 19. If you are interested in serving as a community representative, please contact Teaching and Learning Office Professional Yasmin Masood to request an application. If you have questions regarding the IMC, please contact Director of Teaching and Learning Dawn Wallace.

Influence the Choice Hosts “Hidden in Plain Sight” Sept. 24

Parents and caregivers are invited to join Influence the Choice for “Hidden in Plain Sight” at Issaquah High School on Sept. 24 from 6-8 p.m. Hidden in Plain Sight is an exhibit and resource fair presented by Influence the Choice. The exhibit is a re-creation of a teenage bedroom with signs of substance misuse. We aim to educate and empower parents to communicate with their children about risky behaviors that lead to substance use. Do you know what to look for? Register now at Eventbrite.
