June 19, 2017; Issaquah Council Chambers, 10:30pm
In a surprise move, Issaquah’s City Council proposed and approved a new combination of additional and affordable housing in Issaquah Highlands for the Polygon amendment to the IH Development Agreement.
The approval allows Polygon Northwest Homes to bring in 100 additional housing units into Issaquah Highlands, on land it owns called Westridge, in exchange for providing 38 additional units as affordable housing in the 80-120% AMI range, plus 10 affordable to those earning up to 60% AMI, plus a group home for LEO. The City will be subsidizing the agreement by conveying ownership of Tract D to Polygon for their building of 11 market rate homes.
The vote was not unanimous, with dissenting councilmembers concerned about setting precedent with the land subsidy.
More details are forthcoming.
