Issaquah Highlands Chess Club (IHCC) is honored to host Women’s International Master (WIM) Megan Lee for an exquisite evening of chess on Wednesday, July 6, from 6-9 p.m.
The event will take place at Blakely Hall in the heart of Issaquah Highlands. The evening will kick off with a Q/A session and lecture by Lee, followed by a 30-player simultaneous chess exhibition. Players of all ages and levels are welcome to attend.
As time permits, Lee will sign autographs and take photographs with audience members. Space is limited to 60 people for the lecture and 30 players for the simul, which will be offered on a first come, first serve basis.
Admission is free of charge, courtesy of IHCC and Washington Chess Federation (WCF). Light complimentary refreshments will be provided by Highlands Council.
IHCC was co-founded in 2022 by two local chess enthusiasts. The club was designed to support, promote and host chess events for players of all ages and skill levels. Founded in 1946, WCF is the official governing body for U.S. chess events in Washington state.
Lee, 26, is the number one ranked female chess player in the Pacific Northwest. In 2013, she earned the WIM title at the age of 17.
She is a two-time Washington State Chess Champion in 2020 and 2022. Last February, Lee became the 2022 state champion by besting a field of Washington’s top 10 chess players with a dominating eight points from nine games.
This event is free and open to all.
