About the Candidates

The Issaquah Highlands Community Association (IHCA) Board of Directors approved the following candidates to be on the 2023 board election ballot for Districts 1, 3, 5 and At-Large. Voting is now open and closes on June 16 at 5 p.m. Click here to learn more about the voting process >> 

No statements of interest have been received for District 3. Please email Jordan.r@ihcommunity.org if you reside in District 3 and are interested in joining the IHCA Board of Directors.

District 1

Ekaterina Zakharova

How long have you resided in Issaquah Highlands? Three years.

Educational background: MBA with concentration in corporate management.

Association experience: Current IHCA board member for District 1; Ashford at VP Board President; Business owner for 15+ years in the Greater Seattle Area; Volunteer for NIKA DanceSport Foundation.

Why would you like to serve as a director? I have experience, time, and will help make our community a better place to live.

Any potential or perceived conflict with IHCA? No.

Lynda Tammone

How long have you resided in Issaquah Highlands? 4.5 years

Educational background: As for my educational achievements, while I did not finish college, having married instead, I’ve held a number of very interesting and challenging positions during my working years before I retired. My work experience includes coordinator on a medical research project, investigator with DSHS, director of personnel, and finally, becoming an emergency medical technician working in both Washington and California.

Association Experience: I’ve served on several homeowner association boards in Washington and California, having lived in and owned condominiums since 1984. Additionally, I’ve received appointments and served on the Washington State Hospital Commission, DSHS Human Rights Review Panel, Puget Sound Health Systems Advisory Board, and the City of Redmond Police Department Citizen Advisory Board.

Why would you like to serve as a director? My desire to serve as a director are essentially two-fold. First, engaging in volunteer work has been an important part of my character since high school. I currently do volunteer work at Harborview Hospital Medical Center. Secondly, I believe my opinions, research abilities and other strengths result in perspectives worth sharing for consideration.

Any potential or perceived conflict with IHCA? No.

District 5

Alison “Ali” Spietz

How long have you resided in Issaquah Highlands? 3 years

Educational background: BA in Humanities and BA in Sociology.

Association Experience: IHCA Board Member 2021-2022; IHCA Vice President 2022-2023; Mercer Island City Clerk 2001-2018; Cedar River Montessori Board 2005-2011; Washington Municipal Clerks Association Board 2006-2010; Mercer Island Chief of Administration 2018-present.

Why would you like to serve as a director? I think this is a great community and I have enjoyed giving back by serving on the IHCA Board for the last two years. I want to support the excellent work the IHCA staff do and continue to help this community adapt to the changing needs of its residents.

Any potential or perceived conflict with IHCA? No.

At-Large

Sanjay Mahajan

How long have you resided in Issaquah Highlands? 8 years

Educational background: I hold an MBA in Finance from DePaul University in Chicago.

Association Experience:Over the past two years, I have served as treasurer on the IHCA Board. In the past, I have also served on the IHCA Architectural Review Committee (ARC) and on the Finance Committee. I also serve on the board of Educational Foundation of the Washington Hospitality Association and Technical Advisory Board of South Seattle Community College. In the past, I have served on the board of Seattle Southside Regional Tourism Authority, Seattle Southside Chamber of Commerce & Hotel/Motel Advisory board for the City of Seatac.

Why would you like to serve as a director? I really love living in Issaquah Highlands and would like to volunteer my time in continuing to enhance the living and working experience of the residents of our community. I am also interested in impacting educational and cultural programing, improving the safety in our in our neighborhood and supporting local businesses.

Any potential or perceived conflict with IHCA? No.
