Resident Accepts Black History Month Proclamation

Kimberly Kapustein, president of the Highlands Council Board of Trustees, accepted a proclamation stating that February is Black History Month from the City of Issaquah on Monday, Feb. 6. Mayor Mary Lou Pauly issued the proclamation during Issaquah City Council.

“I appreciate that you’ve taken this time to acknowledge not only the folks who are here as part of Issaquah, but what we feel is a really important legacy,” Kapustein said. “…To really bring attention to the things that are happening, but also to celebrate who we are as a people and what we contribute to the legacy and history of our nation and this city.”

Each year, the month of February serves as a celebration and reminder of the triumphs and struggles that African Americans have experienced throughout U.S. history.
