Apply Now! Join the Capital Bond Planning Committee

Issaquah School District is looking for secondary students, staff, parents/guardians and community members to represent the community as members of the ISD Capital Bond Planning Committee. The committee’s work will be essential in assessing the needs of our facilities and shaping a potential bond measure for 2024. Apply now! The application is open through Dec. 17.

Don’t Drive Distracted!

Put those cell phones down when you are in the car. We want our Grand Ridge Elementary students to be able to arrive/depart our campus feeling as safe as possible. There is a growing number of drivers that are engaged with their phones as they drive on our campus. Our students are worth a quick “pause” on all electronic devices, especially when you are operating your vehicle. Keep (y)our students safe. Put the cell phones away.

This year, the event takes place at Renton Technical College on Friday, Feb. 9. We will leave Issaquah High School by bus at 10:30 a.m. and return at 2:40 p.m. Lunch will be provided. Find out more and register here. Space is limited and registration closes on Jan. 26.

Elementary Literacy Adoption Process Moves into Pilot Phase

Across the district at the end of November, some elementary students and staff began testing two reading and writing curricula to replace the current systems, which are outdated. Some teachers at every elementary school are helping to lead the pilot, which is designed to use and evaluate the two finalist programs selected as part of the ongoing elementary literacy adoption process. All grade levels are represented in the test group. A selection of materials from each of the two curricula are available for public review from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at the ISD administration office on all regular business days between now and March. Parents and guardians are invited to give feedback or submit questions via this form; or in person at one of the regional meetings. These meetings will take place on the following dates:

  • March 19, 6-7 p.m., Clark Elementary library
  • March 20, 6-7 p.m., Sunny Hills Elementary library
  • March 21, 6-7 p.m., Briarwood Elementary library
  • March 22, 10-11 a.m., Zoom meeting

After hearing from teachers who piloted the two curricula, and receiving parent and guardian feedback, the committee will make its recommendation to the Instructional Materials Committee (IMC), which will review all the information and forward a proposal to the Issaquah School Board for consideration and proposed adoption.
